If you're searching for a Medicare insurance broker in Nampa, you probably want someone local who knows the plans available in Canyon County and will explain them in plain English, without a sales pitch. I'm Mitch Lyman, an independent Medicare broker in Meridian, and I help people in Nampa, Caldwell and across the Treasure Valley compare Medicare Advantage plans, mostly right over the phone.

Now is the time that matters most. Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7, and any change you make takes effect January 1, 2027. Working with a broker doesn't cost you anything extra. Your plan's premium is the same whether you enroll through me or directly with the insurance company.

What does a Medicare insurance broker in Nampa do?

An independent broker isn't tied to one insurance company. I work with several carriers that offer Medicare Advantage plans in Canyon County, including Blue Cross of Idaho, Humana, UnitedHealthcare and St. Luke's Health Plan. That lets me put plans side by side and show you how they really differ.

When you call, here's what I check for you:

  • Your doctors and hospital, so you know they're in the plan's network for 2027.

  • Your prescriptions and pharmacy, including drugs that may need prior approval.

  • Your total costs: premium, copays and the yearly out-of-pocket limit, not just the monthly price.

  • Extras that matter to you, such as dental, vision or hearing benefits.

After you enroll, I'm still your contact if a bill or coverage question comes up during the year.

Why Nampa Medicare Advantage plans need a closer look for 2027

This year brings more changes than usual for Canyon County. If you get your care at Saint Alphonsus in Nampa, you may already know the Saint Alphonsus Medicare Advantage plans are ending after 2026. The hospitals and doctors are staying; only those insurance plans are going away, so members need to pick a new plan.

Other plans have changed or ended too. If you received a letter saying your coverage won't renew, read what to do if your Medicare Advantage plan is ending in 2027. Even if your plan is staying, its network, drug list and costs can change on January 1.

Networks also vary a lot here. One plan may include St. Luke's Nampa but not Saint Alphonsus Nampa or West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, and another plan may do the opposite. For a bigger picture of how these plans work, see my guide to Idaho Medicare Part C plans for 2027.

A Medicare insurance agent in Nampa vs. calling a plan yourself

An agent who works for a single insurance company can only show you that company's plans. Shopping alone online can work, but it's easy to miss details, like a pharmacy that's out of network or a specialist who isn't covered, that turn into surprise bills in March.

My job is to catch those details before you enroll. And if your current plan is still the best fit for 2027, I'll tell you to keep it. You can read more about why people choose to work with me.

How Medicare help in Canyon County works by phone

  1. Call or text me. We'll set up a time that works for you.

  2. Have a few things handy: your doctors, your prescriptions, your pharmacy and your Annual Notice of Change letter if you have one.

  3. I compare your options and walk you through the ones that fit.

  4. You decide. If you want to change plans, I handle the enrollment with you.

I serve Nampa, Caldwell, Kuna and the rest of the Treasure Valley communities I work with.

Medicare Broker in Nampa FAQs

Does it cost more to use a Medicare broker in Nampa?

No. Medicare Advantage premiums are the same whether you enroll through a licensed broker or directly with the insurance company. You don't pay me anything for my help.

When can I change my Medicare Advantage plan in Idaho?

During Medicare Open Enrollment, October 15 through December 7, with coverage starting January 1. If you're already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you also get one more chance to switch from January 1 through March 31. Medicare explains these windows on its joining a plan page.

Do I have to meet a Medicare agent in person?

No. Most of my clients in Nampa and Canyon County work with me entirely by phone. It's quick, and you can have your paperwork right in front of you at home.
